Yes, it's really hard! I am sorry your friend of nigh on 40 years closed the relationship. Know that your other friends are standing with you, ready to hand over a tissue, ready to hold your hand (at least figuratively), and ready to honor your grief.

Like you, I've learned to scroll on by or mute posts from friends that I fundamentally believe are wrong, and instead choose to focus on the things that made us friends in the first place. Apparently, that's not enough for some people, though... Sending you big hugs today.
Oh Anne, I'm so sorry. I haven't lost any friends over politics, but I have a few relatives who I'm sure are on the fence about me... Sometimes I really despair at how misled some people are, and wonder what it will take for them to come to their senses. Will they get it if T**** wins and starts rounding people up to deport? When concentration camps are set up in our borders? When abortion is illegal *everywhere*?!? I'm donating all the $ I can and writing postcards to keep that from happening. Just know that you've got *many* sympathetic sisters out here <3
